The Firm (2009)
Football holliganism causes damage totalling millions of pounds, causes untold heartbreak, ruins the sport for the vast majority, and no longer has a place in the modern day sporting arena.
Try telling Nick Love, who, licking his wounds after the simplistic and surprisingly offensive Outlaw, has returned to the sub-genre that brought him the most success.
The Football Factory director’s remake of The Firm may be a damning indictment of hooliganism, a movie that shows exactly how much pain and suffering the fighting causes, while refusing to glamourise the men who partake in the violence. Or it might be full of 80s tunes, belly laughs and throwaway fight scenes.
Let’s just hope he doesn’t pay homage to any more (vastly more talented) Hollywood directors in this one.
